Halloween with a 2 year old

A couple of months ago I asked Colton what animal he wanted to be for Halloween and he roared, so we figured we'd try our best to find a lion costume. Colton's pal, Caleb, loaned him this awesome costume (pictured below), but we could not convince him to put it on. We bribed him with gummies (gummy bears and fruit chews) but he'd throw a fit every time we tried to turn him into a lion. So, we weren't thinking we'd ever get him to wear it on Halloween.

A few days before Halloween our Kroger store had a trick or treat event and I told Colton he had to wear his costume to get candy at Kroger, and again a fit. I even tried to get him to wear last year's leopard costume, but no luck. I walked away and he came to me a minute later with his new truck pajamas (that Nana and Pops had just given him for his birthday) and told me "truck", so he was a truck for the Kroger event. :)

Colton, the truck, participating in the cake walk. Colton won a cake!

Colton's friends, Jackson and Sophie, playing a game

Colton holding a balloon and the cake he won...he was very eager to take a bite.

And, as the pictures show....he was a proud lion for Halloween. But it took one strong daddy and lots of screaming to get him in the costume. But, daddy won and as soon as we told him we were going across the street to knock on the first door he calmed down. Hooray! We were all so excited!

Life is so hard when mommy and daddy win.

We practiced saying "treat", but he was silent every time a neighbor opened their door.

Sadie was precious as a pink butterfly.

Nana and Pops were in town, so they got to join in the fun!

Amazed at all of the candy people are giving him! We only went to 10 houses and he's completely forgotten about his bag of candy - its tucked away in the pantry for mommy and daddy to munch on.

Sadie, always smiling!

Colton enjoying a Halloween sucker.

We love this precious, chubby little six month old!
