Lake Fun!

We've been out to the lake twice this summer, - once for 4th of July with tons of family members gathered, and another time for a low-key weekend with Bo and Liz.

The second time we went was a very spur of the moment decision and we pretty much based it on Colton's response one Friday morning...
"Colton, do you want to go to the lake house?"....Colton's response (with a big head nod): "dock, dock" - which means yes I want to go where the dock is! So, off we went!

Here's some pics from our summer fun out at the lakehouse. Colton was one brave boy by hopping on the jet ski with Daddy in August - we were all shocked that he actually seemed to enjoy it (letting out only a few whimpers every now and then)

Next up...hunting fun at the lakehouse this fall. We may let David go a time or two without us, but we'll definitely plan to join him out there for some gorgeous Fall weather.

4th of July fireworks! Cooper was so cute and excited this year to shoot off fireworks! Obsessed may be the better word.

Cooper and Layla...Colton asks about "coop and yayla" all the time.

Too cute

Our attempt at a picture of the cousins. Colton and Sadie weren't really in the mood. :)

And a big project when we got home from the lake one day...helping daddy with the gate project (David installed an electric gate opener and its AWESOME!)

Fun with Friends

Colton loves playing with friends...I try to give him a chance to see a friend each day. This gives mommy a chance to visit with friends and it wears Colton out for naptime! And I love that Sadie already has dear friends in her life! I'm all about 'arranged friendships'! I am so glad to share life with the mommies of Colton and Sadie's friends.

We love playtime with friends during the week. :) Here are some pictures from recent outings with special friends.
Colton and Aubrey at the Galleria play area. Colton calls her "Aubu".

Sadie with her sweet friend Ryleigh
(Aubrey and Ryleigh's mom is Kamara, one of my dearest friends)

Colton and his favorite buddy, Mia...here they're about to run a relay race down our hallway, after a much needed drink break

Sadie with her friend Maggie (younger by 7 weeks) catching some sleep at a park.

Colton and Mia checking on their little sisters

Colton adores his 'Mi'...Mia calls him Ton-ton

Dina and Kennedy...I love K's name for Colton - she calls him 'Cookies'

At the Children's Museum

Dinner with Sophie and Jackson
One more funny name - Sophie calls Colton 'Coco'!

Their attempts at his name aren't much better than his...when he says his name it sounds like 'Gonten' and he's finally started calling Sadie 'Adie' instead of baby all the time!

We also have a fun weekly playgroup on Thursdays that we LOVE! David teases me about the number of playgroups we're involved in (really only one), all the others are impromptu and NECESSARY to make it through the week with a very active almost 2 year old!

100 days old!

Sadie was 100 days old last Sunday, August 8! We did a little 'Sadie's 100 days old!' photo shoot.

Sadie was very cooperative, but Colton wanted nothing to do with it. I think he just wanted it to be a special day ALL about Sadie, not him. He was trying to bow out of this picture gracefully, can't you tell?!

Here's a flashback to Colton at 100 days old (next 3 pictures are Colton).
We see some similarities, but I think they look pretty different.

Sadie again...
Her eyes are still blue, but his were a much brighter blue. Their hair (or lack of) is pretty similar. Both are pretty chunky. It'll be fun to see if she ends up with a head full of blond curls!

We love our precious girl! She is such a chill baby. Very grateful for our little bundle of joy.

Cuteness

We love these two

They wake us up early, crave our attention, and have changed our lives in many wonderful ways over the past year (almost two with Colton).

But they sure are cute. Good thing Colton is cute....the terrible twos have already started.

Here are recent pictures of our cute ones doing cute things.
Sadie gets wrapped each night (and most naps) in her miracle blanket and she ALWAYS takes her left leg out. I think its because she's so long that the blanket doesn't fit her well. She is LONG!

She's too long for most of her resting spots!

Sadie is a great little sleeper and will fall asleep anywhere.

She is full of joy and gives us such sweet smiles all day. She follows us with her eyes and breaks out into big happy open mouth grins when she sees us. Simply adorable.

Love her serious looks too...

While Sadie is just adjusting to life and is sweet and cuddly...Colton is silly, mischievous, playful, and obstinate these days! One nickname David gave him is T.O. for time out, a place he frequents often. We sure do love the little guy - disobedience and all!
Colton has a growing fascination with choo-choos.

He loves climbing in chairs to help me in the kitchen
He loves climbing everything!
He doesn't care how hot it is, he loves being outside.
A juice box treat after a hard day of yard work
He could build all day long, and he loves for David and I to help him build tall towers. (he's into NOT smiling for pictures.)
Fun with cousin Timothy
At night he sleeps in his crib still (and will until he's crawling out of it!) with his nap-mat, blanket, and paci!

It's pretty sweet that mommy and daddy are Colton's favorite people. Colton LOVES going places with his daddy and although he is quite the mama's boy, he has a blast working with daddy around the house. Sadie seems pretty fond of her mommy and daddy too.

A little abuse at the hands of big brother
This is a pretty common look Sadie gives Colton...wide eyed and wondering what's about to happen?!

This was pretty much a catch-up post since its been so long. More pics and summer re-caps to come!
