The Fall

Colton took a horrible tumble out of a tall kitchen chair in our apartment Saturday morning. I saw it happening from the kitchen and it was hard to watch, knowing it was going to be a bad landing. The poor little guy landed right on his face and blood started flowing...out of his mouth and nose and he was hysterical. BoPa was out of town, but his dental partner was able to meet us at the office and take a look at Colton. We got some meds to help with infection and were told to come back today for xrays.

BoPa took xrays today and looked at his teeth and things are not looking good. :( The two middle top teeth are loose and one of the nerve tips has been severed. We went to see a pediatric specialist and we're going to give it a week to see if they tighten up on their own. He hit the tile floor hard!

(How grateful are we that during our 2 weeks without insurance the big mishap involved teeth! Hooray for BoPa, the dentist!)

We're praying those top teeth tighten up over the week so Colton doesn't have to loose them. We'll go back to the specialist next week. Colton has been a champ the past few days - no complaining, wiggling, or screaming when his teeth are getting checked.

Thank goodness its temporary

We're in a tiny little apartment here in Midland and all I can say is, thank goodness its temporary! 620 square feet of tiny-ness will be a fun memory one day. :) Sadie and Colton seem to love it. I think Colton truly enjoys having us all so close together. It's sweet. He's been calling it home since day one.

We are grateful for a cozy place to live, and we've really managed to make the space work well for all four of us. The highlight of our home is the washer and dryer - a bit on the small side and I think they've run constantly since we moved in.

Not too many meals have been cooked in this place. Why? Check out the oven and stove top. It took me 15 mins. to scramble two eggs in a pan last week. The burners don't work very well. :)

Christmas in Dallas

This year we decided to stay put in Dallas for the holiday. We were very excited to finally go to the Christmas Eve service at our church and to wake up Christmas morning as a family in our own house. We loved it! It felt kind of funny to be on our own, but we cherished the time together. We think it'll be our new family tradition for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Christmas Eve was cold and rainy. We attended the 2:00 service at church (such a great service and so fun to be at Watermark) and then David cooked us a gourmet meal for dinner! He is great in the kitchen and loves to cook fun meals. I encourage him to cook nightly. :)

Colton left Santa a few cookies and some carrots for the reindeer, then drifted off to sleep wearing his Santa pajamas. We woke up Christmas morning and opened presents, then packed and headed to Houston to stay with our family for 6 days!

After our long drive to Houston, Colton and Sadie were excited to get out of the car. So were mommy and daddy. When Colton woke up in the car after a 20 minute nap we knew it was going to be a long ride. It was. Colton was not in the Christmas spirit and spent a lot of time grabbing Sadie's toys, throwing them on the ground, and getting frustrated at just about everything. But, Sadie made up for it by grabbing his hair during his 20 minute nap.

We were thrilled to pull up to Aunt Heather and Uncle Darryl's house to join Nana and Pops for our family Christmas meal and opening of presents. I love watching Colton and Hannah play. :)

Colton got Elmo from his cousin Hannah and his reaction was adorable. He just stared and hugged, and smiled, and hugged Elmo over and over.

Loving on Nana

One of our Christmas presents from Nana and Pops was for them to keep Colton for two nights! It was simply wonderful. David and I took a few naps and just soaked up special time with Sadie. Colton had a blast with Nana and Pops New Years Eve, and rejoined us in Dallas New Years Day. We skyped with him both days, which was lots of fun. Except for the time he saw baby sitting in our laps and said, "go home, go home". :(

For New Years Eve we joined friends for dinner and really enjoyed a distraction free meal (since Sadie is the EASIEST baby ever!)

2011 is bringing HUGE changes for our family - mainly a new job for David and a big move to Midland at the end of this week! It's all happening very quickly, but we are excited and trusting God with the details. :)

December Fun

December was such a fun month for our family. We spent a lot of time together, met Santa Claus, went to the Little Gym for the first time, enjoyed lots of time together indoors, and a few warm days outside. Here are some pictures detailing our December days...

We had a few really warm days in December. One day we went to the zoo and played in the water in the kids zoo area. Colton loved splashing in the stream!

We even took pics of Sadie in the backyard sitting on a mirror. :)

Cuddling in bed together...Colton is finally becoming more of a snuggler and loves laying down in "daddy's bed" - for some reason he doesn't call it mommy and daddy's bed, just daddy's!

Our poor baby got 4 top teeth within three weeks - every now and then she'll let out a loud scream and shove her fist in her mouth! Teething is no fun. :( She might have also been frustrated that we dressed her in this blue, puffy outfit.

Colton loves supervising while Sadie eats. He typically wants a mum-mum, puffs, cheerios or whatever she's snacking on, but never wants to try her pureed baby food. I was hopeful that might broaden his interest in vegetables, but no luck. :(

It took Colton a while to warm up to the new environment (as always), but once he did he was goofy and silly.

And finally, our super fun-always crazy-lots of babies and kids Christmas Party with our playgroup. What a blast! In this picture there are 14 moms, 14 two year olds, 10 babies, and 3 babies on the way. Somehow we still manage to get together weekly. So grateful for these girls in my life!
