Our growing boy

Our growing boy is 10 months old now!  We cannot believe we're two months shy of Colton turning one!   It's also hard to believe we're in the double digits of months already...felt like yesterday that we were telling people he was 7 weeks old!  My how he has changed over the months.

We used to think Colton was SO cute, then we looked back at newborn pictures and think, hmmmmm.... cute may not be the best word choice!...but, he was definitely 'cute' to us since we love him so much. Now, at 10 months, we really think he's a cutie!

But, cuteness isn't what matters most.  David and I love this little guy so very much.  I continue to think what an amazing blessing it is that God has given us Colton to raise.  What a privilege it will be to raise him up to know and love God.

Colton keeps us laughing, so we thought we'd share some of the fun/silly/scary things he's started doing.  We are ever watchful as he LOVES to get into everything...I know it'll only continue to get worse as his mobility increases.   Many bumps and bruises lately and lots of ouchie tears!

Here's what our 10 month old finds exciting:

*Crawling around all over the house
*Standing up in his crib, especially to watch his musical aquarium attached to his crib
*Pulling up on furniture, especially while mommy and daddy are eating dinner
*Grabbing cords
*Eating anything left on the floor (food, dirt, bugs, whatever)
*Being outside in the shade
*Stroller walks in the morning
*Running errands - especially trips to the grocery store
*Airplane rides (he's taken 3 round trips already!)
*Sharing big people food with his parents
*Playing with other babies (lots of touching, babbling, taking of toys, pulling hair)
*Splashing during bathtime
*Pushing toys along on the floor so he can continue to chase them
*Playing with various textures of food
*Fun times with family - especially cousins, Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles
*Finding mommy in the kitchen and opening all the drawers while she cooks
*Emerging from the tupperware drawer with lids in his mouth
*Jumping off the bed into mommy and daddy's arms
*Dinners out with friends
*Playing with the vacuum cleaner (strange!)
*His paci
*Bouncing in the doorway jumper
*Tearing up magazines
*Taking cat-naps in his car seat and stroller
*Watching dogs (especially Tejas)
*Splashing in his outdoor pool
*Turning light switches on and off
*Waving bye-bye (and sometimes saying it!)

We love his dumbfounded look in the 3 pictures above - we get this look all the time!

(I apparently love to dress him in various shades of blue, seeing as he's wearing blue in every picture attached!)

Here's what he doesn't like too much:

*Gates separating him from mommy
*Pack-n-play time (alone time with toys!)
*Green beans and green peas
*Getting his diaper changed
*Getting more teeth - currently at 16!
*Falling head-first into the bathtub (hopefully lesson learned)
*Smashing his fingers in kitchen drawers (lesson not learned)
*Being left in a room all alone
*Wearing sunglasses, hats, sunscreen

Austin Lake House

We went to Austin in June with my family - dad was on vacation and mom celebrated her 60th! We stayed at a great house on Lake Travis with an incredible view and an amazing pool! Everyone in the family came up to celebrate mom's birthday - grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, so it was a terrific trip.  It came right on the heels of our Mexico trip, so we felt like we were on an endless vacation....very nice.  Colton had lots of firsts on this trip, so we've included many fun pictures below...

Colton's first time in a pool!  He LOVED every minute.  Especially when his daddy popped out of the water to scare him!

Our boy loved the pool on day one, round 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 brought about lots of tears and many wasted swim diapers!  :(

A very sad swimmer

Reading with cousin Hannah

Trying to capture a good picture of Colton and Hannah - it never happened!

Fun times on our boat ride...

This is Colton's adorable friend Nate - he lives in Austin with his awesome parents, Jeremy and Christina.  Nate came over to swim and play with Colton.

This is Colton's pal Dax - his mommy is my longtime friend, Emily - the boys are exactly 4 months apart and Colton loved following Dax around!

Colton Laughs at His Mom's Hiccups

Colton thought his mom was so funny this morning when she had the hiccups. Jenny caught the little guy on video while he was eating his breakfast. Those of you who receive the email will have to follow the link back to the blog to view the video.
