Gorillas, tigers, giraffes, elephants, penguins, snakes, flamingos, kangaroos - all either fascinated or frightened Colton on our first trip to the zoo! He's been SO into animals lately that we thought it'd be fun to take a family trip to the zoo. We ended up getting a family pass because it was such a great deal - it'll pay for itself in 2 1/2 visits!
And, we've already determined a few things...we will always get there when they open at 9:00a.m. and will likely avoid the hot summer months...I cannot imagine being out there with big crowds in 100 degree weather!
Our first stop was at the gorilla exhibit and David and I couldn't stop laughing about Colton's reaction. When he saw the first gorilla (they were enormous!) he started calling out "mama, mama, mama" even though he was perched in David's arms. David's much safer, stronger than mama's arms....this is a mama's boy for sure!
The elephants also scared him, but we think all of the other animals were just neat for him to watch....he was pretty mesmerized the whole time. We've got another trip planned at the end of this week with some friends - I can't wait!
He's bewildered!
"Safe" in mama's arms
Colton took off down a tunnel in the children's area, so David went in after him and it was so funny to see both of their heads pop up in this dome! Let's just say the tunnel wasn't made for 6'7 guys, - we're glad David didn't get stuck down there! I told David he probably fit in that tunnel a whole lot better than I would have at this point.
There's a fun little playground area for kids, so of course we had to stop for a few turns on the slide.
All the animal watching wore him out...we tried to feed him lunch on the car ride home and he passed out within two miles - with a bite of sandwich in his mouth!
