Our one year old

Sadie turned ONE last month! She is such a joy to us. It's hard to imagine what our life was like before she came along. She is just a sweet, precious baby girl. I don't want her to grow up. I really love baby Sadie!
Sadie still has the sweetest personality. She is almost always smiling and just seems absolutely content and happy (most of the time). She's pretty much adorable. She is so squeezeable...and enjoys cuddling, especially when she's sleepy. She enjoys climbing up into my lap and sitting with me to read a book or eat a snack, or to push her brother out of the way. Speaking of her big brother, she adores him and chuckles at his antics all day long.

Sweet Sadie, these are a few of the things you are doing as a one year old...

you love to explore. I often find you discovering new hiding places or pulling books off of bookshelves to flip through the pages. That can keep you busy for a while. You also LOVE the big pasta tub, but still try to sneak bites every now and then.
you love to climb.... and you've gotten to be such a FAST crawler. I've found you perched on top of chairs and tables in the past couple of weeks. Yesterday I found you standing on the toilet and later in the day you crawled into the dryer. Little one, you are becoming a handful and I can't take my eyes off of you for one second! Thank goodness Colton is around to tell me when you're up to something. Of course today he thought it was pretty funny when you started splashing in the toilet and just watched you instead of hollering for me. You got a bath after that stunt.
you aren't walking yet...but I don't mind that one bit! You love to push your shopping cart all over the house. You have mastered your crawl and zoom around the house at warp speed. You seem like you just aren't confident enough to be walking on your own yet. You've taken one or two steps towards daddy or mommy when we sit on the floor with you, but you are certainly content crawling! Crawl as long as you want to baby girl!
We love our sweet Sadie, but lately you're starting to show a sassy side. You can let out some loud screams!- especially at Colton when he's invading your space or taking a toy from you. This week when he tried to nudge you out of the way you turned and bit the heck out of his hand. He cried and came running to me! Way to go to stand up for yourself! :) But, no biting little miss.
you expect things to be equal...when Colton gets a snack you expect me to give you the exact same thing....you simply hold out your hand waiting on your treat! ...you let out a few whines, grunts, screams, and cries when you don't get your way. I've had to start disciplining you for throwing food on the floor. When I ask you to stop you usually look straight at me while throwing your next piece of food on the floor. :) You don't like time out in your packnplay, but I've had to send you a few times in the past couple of weeks. Anytime your big brother goes to time out (most often for assaulting you in some way) you bee line it to hang out with him and I usually find you both cracking each other up.
you go to just about anyone now, which is a lot of fun. you really love your mommy, daddy, brother, bopa, lizzy, nana, and pops. You've been wonderful in the nursery at church and seem to love play time with other babies.
you talk ALL the TIME!...you point and talk and gesture and so many nonsense words come out of your mouth. I don't understand most of what you say, but I've heard all done, hi, mama, dada, dog, ball, and a few other words I don't remember. Colton loves it when I pretend to carry on a conversation with you.
you don't like being contained, so you get mad when we put you in the exersaucer. you've gotten used to playtime in your packnplay, which gives me a chance to get dinner started in the afternoons.
you love splashing in the bathtub or swimming pool
You have a few nicknames...we call you Sadie lin, sweet girl, pumpkin, little one, baby girl. Colton hears me say 'no maam' quite a bit, so his new nickname for you is NO MAAM! He rarely calls you Sadie, most of the time you are still 'baby.'
you and Colton are really sweet together...about half the time. Since he's been potty training and getting lots of treats he loves to share them with you. Very sweet! At times in the car when you're making lots of noise Colton tells you to stop talking, but you keep right on going! He'll say "no maam Sadie, stop talking, stop now, - its my turn to talk". :)
You don't always get a good morning nap, but you take a great afternoon nap when your brother does. You're usually up by 7:00 with your brother. Sometimes you cry for us to come get you, but most of the time you enjoy sitting in bed reading books. I like it when you do that. :)

you were 22 1/2 pounds at your 12 month checkup. I can't remember your length, but you were long.

Here's a few pictures from your actual birthday.
